Police are continuing to question a 51-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder.
The man, who handed himself in at Mansfield House police station in Leicester city centre on Sunday afternoon, remains in custody in Milton Keynes.
The body of Naimo Mohamed Moalin, 31, was found at an address in Fishermead, Milton Keynes, on Saturday night.
A post-mortem examination showed she died of strangulation.
Thames Valley Police officers have been granted a custody extension, allowing them to detain the suspect until 1am tomorrow.
