JURORS have been shown a video of an eight-year-old boy accidentally shooting himself with an Uzi submachine gun at a 2008 gun fair in the US.
The video, taken by the boy’s father, shows Christopher Bizilj of Connecticut shooting the gun when the front of the weapon kicks back toward his head.
A collective gasp went up in the courtroom.
Earlier, Charles Bizilj testified that he was videotaping his son when the boy disappeared from his viewfinder.
Dr Bizilj said he found Christopher unresponsive on the ground.
When he reached to pick him up, Dr Bizilj said he saw a portion of the boy’s skull was missing.
Former police chief Edward Fleury has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter in the boy’s death.
Mr Fleury’s company co-sponsored the gun fair in the US state of Massachusetts.
