Sisters accused of assaulting pregnant woman in Surprise

Two Surprise sisters were arrested after police said they confronted a pregnant woman over a relationship issue.

Police believe Nicole Morgan, 22, and Deborah Morgan, 24, knocked on the door of the pregnant woman’s apartment near Greenway and Litchfield roads at about 2 p.m. Thursday and found her with the baby in her arms.

The 21-year-old woman told police she was holding her 9-month-old baby when one of the sisters attacked her, said Sgt. Mark Ortega, a Surprise police spokesman.

The woman, who is 5 ½ months pregnant, began arguing with the sisters and Nicole Morgan hit her and pulled her hair, Ortega said.

The woman later told police the younger of the two sisters knocked her to the ground, kicked her stomach and appeared to hit her baby, the sergeant said.

Police arrived at the apartment complex to find the victim with a large cut on her head. The baby did not appear to be injured.

Officers called the Morgan sisters, who later came to the Surprise Police Department and admitted to the assault, Ortega said.

Nicole Morgan was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, assault, criminal damage and disorderly conduct.

Deborah Morgan could face charges of facilitation and two counts of disorderly conduct.
