Why Donald Trump is not just a Danger to America but to the rest of the world.

Donald Trump’s presidency and political influence have been seen by many as a danger not only to the United States but also to global stability for several key reasons:

Undermining Democratic Norms:
Trump challenged the integrity of U.S. democratic processes (e.g. claiming election fraud without evidence, attempting to overturn the 2020 election). That rhetoric resonates worldwide and emboldens authoritarian leaders, weakening global democratic standards.

Climate Change Denial and Policy Rollbacks:
By withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement and rolling back environmental regulations, Trump damaged international efforts to combat climate change. Since climate change is a global crisis, American leadership is crucial, and his decisions have slowed progress across the world.

Erosion of Alliances and Treaties:
Trump openly questioned the value of NATO and pulled the U.S. out of key treaties (e.g. Iran nuclear deal, Trans-Pacific Partnership). This undermined long-standing alliances and created instability in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, encouraging adversaries such as Russia and China to become more aggressive.

Promotion of Nationalism and Populism:
Trump’s rhetoric and policies inspired far-right, anti-immigration, and anti-globalisation movements worldwide. Leaders in countries like Brazil, Hungary, and India mimicked his style and policies, creating ripple effects across the political landscape.

Volatility and Unpredictable Foreign Policy:
Trump often conducted diplomacy impulsively — including meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un without substantive agreements — which increased global uncertainty and the risk of miscalculations that could lead to conflict.

Disinformation and Conspiracy Theories:
By using his platform to spread conspiracy theories and discredit credible information, Trump normalised a post-truth environment that has weakened public trust in democratic institutions globally.

In short, Trump’s actions didn’t just affect America; they weakened international cooperation, emboldened authoritarian leaders, fueled disinformation, and derailed progress on pressing global crises. That is why many view him as a significant threat to world stability and democratic principles across the globe.
