In todays climate of relationship, boy meet girl, the question of where you are from was a general question that would have been asked somewhere within the conversation, but would not necessary weigh heavily on how the relationship would or would not develop.
However, with the current ruling of the Egyptian court to strip Egyptians men of their citizenship should they choose to marry Israeli women is caused for great concern.
Why would a generation of people be ‘disloyal’ to Egypt, this is the reason given why Lawyer Nabil Al-Wahsh originally brougth this case to court.
The small-mindedness of individuals never cease to amaze me. How do people come up with these stupidity is beyond believe and to be able to have a court endorse it is even worse. Although the courts have stated that each individual case should be looked at separately, they have add insult to injury by saying that the ruling cannot be appealed.
This has really gone too far, does these people realised that we are living in the 21st century and not the dark ages. Human beings have, or should have evolved from those kind of barbarism, and yes I do believe it is barbarism to decide whom one should one fall in love with.
Falling in love is a fundamental right of every individual and and Egyptian man should not have to be afraid or wary of the women that he falls for and he certainly should not have to be saying to and Israeli women, ‘I love you but I cannot marry you’ because should I do so I could lose the citizenship of my country, that is poppycock.
I am waiting with bated breath to see what the Egyptian men are going to do or say about this law, because if they allowed this to be without voicing their opinions, then whatever comes next they will have to tolerate.
In my opinion, it is a stupid law and one that I believe is racist against Israeli women.
