The Arizona Councilman fired from his radio show for making the comment “To depict the biggest picture on that building as a black person – I would have to ask the question ‘why?’
What does he mean when he said that people turned it into a race issue. The comment is a racist whether he thinks so are not and a man in his position should not make stupid and silly comments like that.
The fact, that the principal asked the mural artist to lighten the colour of the boy’s face meant that his comment had been taken seriously.
As the artists stated in the commissioning of the painting, “nobody really thought about the color of the skin on the kids,” so for him to be asked to alter the painting tantamount to the fact that the Principal did take issues with the mural.
I cannot understand people, we always say what is in our thoughts and I have no problems with people who believe in what they are saying and sticking to their beliefs. I take issues with those who try to retract their statement when it become politically correct to do so.
As a councilman, I am sure that he has the responsibility of catering for all his constituents and therefore if he had no racist tendencies those worlds would not come out of his mouth, and not just in private, he has the unmitigated gall to so on the radio. He should be man enough to stand by what he said rightly or wrongly that is his opinion and I would have had more respect for him had he stick to what he originally said.
To say that to him it wasn’t about race, they made it about race… If I’ve offended anybody out there I apologise to them, because we have a lot of cultures in Prescott,” .
Disgraceful, and yes Mr Blair you have offended a great many people with your comment, and to add insult to injury, you really think the minority community is stupid to not know exactly what you meant by the comment – dream on, we are no longer living in the dark ages and the vast majority of us are educated people and we are very good at interpreting what is said and the meaning behind it.
