Murders in Kintyre baffle police

An auditor employed to the Ministry of Energy and Mining and an electrician were added to the country’s climbing murder statistics yesterday after two fatal shooting incidents in Kintyre, St Andrew.

The auditor, 27-year-old Dennis Richard Hamilton, otherwise called ‘Megan’ and ‘Troy’, was fatally shot in Kintyre early yesterday morning in an incident that has left investigators puzzled.

Hamilton was found with multiple gunshot wounds about 2:30 yesterday morning.

The police report that Hamilton was at his house with his family when strange sounds were heard coming from his bedroom.

When family members made checks, Hamilton’s body was found with several gunshot wounds.

The incident came almost five hours after 31-year-old electrician Roan Sutherland of St Joseph’s Road, Kintyre, was killed in a shop in the community.

Reports are that Sutherland was approached by a group of armed men.

They opened fire, hitting him several times. He died on the spot.

Yesterday, police investigators, who were yet to establish motives for the killings, were still trying to determine if they were related.
