Baby, 11 months, tests positive for cocaine

Police say an 11-month old baby from Peabody tested positive for cocaine after he was found in the back seat of a Jeep holding a spoon with a residue of the drug.

The baby’s mother, Deborah Annese, was arrested Thursday morning on numerous drug charges, including driving under the influence of drugs.

Police also said the 40-year-old Annese was found Friday snorting cocaine she’d smuggled into lockup.

The Salem News reported Annese was ordered held on $50,000 bail, five times the amount requested Friday by the prosecution. The name of Annese’s attorney could not immediately be located Saturday.

Police say Annese was arrested in Salem after they received a call that a woman was using drugs in her parked Jeep with two children in the back seat.
