The definition of Racism, “the belief that one race is inherently better than another (or all others)”
This is a despicable though still surviving in our society today.
There are many ethnic people out in the workplace that have been tolerating racist comments for very long time and the vast majority of these people are so afraid to lose the jobs they have they are allowing these idiots to continue to harass them on a daily basis.
No one should have to tolerate racist or sexist comments on a daily basis. It made me really mad when I find out that up to 72% of women, as per report in the ‘About Equal Opportunities website’, experience sexual bullying at work, this is ridiculous in a so-called progressive society.
People are not stupid and we know when someone is making an honest joke or just having a good old bantering, which in my opinion is something that we come across at some time in our life and we do not run to the nearest tribunal. However, there are individuals that these remarks cause serious health problems to, they having to constantly undergoing a barrage of racist abuse from so-called work colleagues.
However, when certain kind of remarks are made to individuals, especially in the work place, and these comments make one unhappy, I believe that the individual should not tolerate the bad behaviour, they should stand up for themselves. People need to get some backbone when they are faced with illiterate colleagues. As I believe that for anyone to abuse someone else through sexual are racist innuendos, demonstrate the low level of intelligence that the person has, and I also believe that perpretrators of these kind of racial and sexist abuse, has a very low opinion of themselves and believe the only way to elevate their stature is to have a go at others that they believe are more vulnerable than them.
I was never that lucky to have idiots try to racially taunt me, as I believe they took one look at me and they knew that try that with me and they would not like the outcome. People who racially or sexually abuse minority, have a radar, they know who they can verbally harass and get away with it.
Calling someone a paki, nigger, coon, they are such derogatory words and this is the 21st century and we should be moving away from these kind of behaviour and to see that there are still individuals out there that are willing to undertake these bad behaviour makes me sick inside.
