I cannot understand why people are so surprise at teenage pregnancy. Teen pregnancy has been around for as long as anyone can remember.
The fact that there has been an been an explosion of teen pregnancy over the last 10-15 years, was always going to be the case, and the reason that we are so surprise is because these pregnancy are reported more so now than they used to be. In what is fashionable called the ‘olden days’ it would have been such a shame for a teenagers to be pregnant, for and adult to be pregnant out of wedlock, these pregnancy were hidden swept under the carpet, and in some cases these teens were sent away to have the baby and most of them were then given up for adoption.
It is become increasing difficult to prevent teen pregnancy, as the generation of teens today that are rebelling against parental controls see pregnancy as a way in which they can get away from what they term ‘strict parent’. Unfortunately they are unequipped to deal with these babies once they arrive, and despite all the information that is out there to help them, most of them are refusing to take this advice.
Teenagers, have more information today about birth control than their counter-part many years ago and they can, if they really want, use this information to stop themselves from getting pregnant. There is no reason, in today’s climate for any teenagers to become pregnant, if they were not intentionally rape, abuse, or sexual assaulted in situations that they have no control over.
