THE parents of the former public shoolgirl whom Wayne Rooney allegedly paid £1,200 for sex have made a public apology to the footballer’s wife.
Hamish Thompson and his wife Dana spoke following claims that their daughter Jennifer, 21, slept with the Manchester United star while his wife, Coleen, was pregnant.
The couple said in a statement: “Following the various newspaper articles concerning our daughter Jennifer, we would like to offer our most sincere apologies to Coleen Rooney and her family.
“This may sound somewhat hollow, but my wife and I would never condone what has or may have happened. We had absolutely no idea about any of the allegations and claims that have been made.”
Rooney, who scored England’s opening goal in their 3-1 victory over Switzerland on Tuesday, is said to have met Miss Thompson at the 235 Casino in Manchester.
Miss Thompson is said to have joined the footballer at the Lowry Hotel in Salford for sex and once invited another alleged prostitute, Helen Wood, 23, to join them.
Coleen, who has taken refuge in her parents’ home in Huyton, Merseyside, north west England, is said to have been pregnant with the couple’s son Kai at the time.
She is reported to be deciding whether to save her marriage and may soon confront her husband at their home in Prestbury, Cheshire, central England.
The footballer returned from England’s European Championship qualifier in Basle in the early hours yesterday and has been remaining behind closed doors.
Coleen, who now has a flourishing career in her own right, had remained hidden inside her parents’ house until Tuesday when she emerged looked drawn to visit her sister in hospital.
She appeared with a scarf wrapped around her left hand, apparently to conceal her wedding ring finger.
Mr and Mrs Thompson, who were on holiday when the news of the allegations broke, added in their statement:
“The last few days have been extremely trying for us and our family. Jennifer is our daughter and we love her and we will deal with this matter as a family, not via the media.
“We would appreciate greatly if we could be afforded a degree of privacy and time in which we can gain a better understanding of the situation.
“This is also true of Jenny’s three brothers [Alexander, Charlie and Max] and other members of our families.”
Miss Thompson was born in Aberdeen but brought up in the Gulf state of Qatar where her father reportedly worked as an oil company executive. When the family returned to Britain and moved to Heaton, Bolton, she was educated at Lord’s Independent School, which charges £1,555 a term.
But her good education and middle-class background are at odds with how her life appeared to develop. She worked initially at a Bolton nightclub where she is said to have met footballers and later moved on to the Manchester club scene.
