Nottingham GP appears in court charged with ABH

A NOTTS GP has been charged with causing actual bodily harm.

Dr Parvaze Khalique, had worked at Giltbrook Surgery, in Nottingham Road, Giltbrook, prior to being arrested and charged by police over the alleged offence on April 10.

He is now on remand awaiting trial.

The 57-year-old, of Lenton Road, Nottingham, appeared via video link at Nottingham Magistrates Court this morning for an interim hearing connected to his case.

Mr Khalique is expected to stand trial at Nottingham Crown Court later this year having previously pleaded not guilty to ABH.

Dr Amanda Sullivan, Director of Quality and Governance at NHS Nottinghamshire County, said: “We can confirm that a case concerning a doctor from Nottinghamshire has appeared in court. We are unable to comment further due to legal restrictions.

“We can offer reassurance that the health and safety of all patients is always of paramount importance and there are no issues with regards to the medical quality or service provision in relation to this case.”
