Jail break!

THE St Andrew North police have recaptured one of seven prisoners who escaped from the Lawrence Tavern lock up this morning.

The prisoners, who were charged with robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, larceny and wounding, made their escape about 10:00 am.

While confirming the incident, police did not say how many cops were on duty at the rural St Andrew station or how the inmates escaped.

One of the prisoners was held by cops in the district minutes after it was discovered that the inmates had flown the coop.

Police this afternoon said they were scouring the area in search of the other six inmates who escaped.
