New Osama bin Laden footage

A US intelligence monitoring service says Al-Qa’ida has released a video marking the anniversary of 9/11 which features unreleased footage of slain leader Osama bin Laden.

SITE Monitoring Service said the 62-minute video titled “The Dawn of Imminent Victory” also includes a speech by new Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri who was appointed after bin Laden’s killing in May.

It said the video released by Al-Qa’ida’s media arm, as-Sahab, shows only a still picture of Zawahiri, who is now Washington’s most wanted man after bin Laden was killed by US Navy SEALs in a raid on his hideout in Pakistan.

Like his slain Saudi-born co-conspirator, Zawahiri has been in hiding since the United States declared its war on terrorism after the September 11, 2001 attacks.

SITE said the 9/11 anniversary video was posted on jihadist forums on September 12.

The US on Sunday marked the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 strikes in emotional ceremonies held under tight security after federal authorities warned of a new terrorism scare.
