Just when the Jamaican Government believe it was safe to go in the waters, and the extradition of Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke would put an end to the Manatt, Phelps and Phillips saga, Manatt fire another shot that will once again bring this sordid saga back to front page.
Politicians should know by now that ‘honesty is the best policy’. I do not believe that it was out of the Prime Minister remit to ask an American law firm to lobby the US to determine the evidence that they had amass against ‘Dudus’. However, he should have done so above board and if he had gone about it in the right way instead of all this clandestine manner, he would not have had to admit to parliament that he had lied about his involvement and this saga would not still be happening.
The only way to, once and for all put a period under this is for the Jamaica Government to establish a full and open investigation into the matter and if heads have to roll after the investigation, so be it.
People must understand the the problem with lying is that you have to keep lying to cover up the first lie and it goes on and on.
I cannot understand why the PM had to go about this affair so secretly and now it is the ‘hercules heel‘ that this going to determine the rest of his career.
‘Dudusgate’ will not go away, even the fact that he his locked up in US prison, awaiting trail, the circumstances surrounding the initial request for extradition is still on-going and it would seem that everyday, this situation gets worse for the Jamaican Government, and in particular Bruce Golding.
