A MAN was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for allegedly attempting to carry a handgun and ammunition onto an Alaska Airlines flight bound for Santa Rosa, California.
Timothy Geisen, 53, was detained overnight after security staff found a small derringer handgun and ammunition in his carry-on luggage during an X-ray screening, the Los Angeles Times reported.
He was booked on suspicion of possession of a concealed weapon, with bail set at $35,000.
Legally-owned handguns can be transported as checked luggage in the US, but they must be unloaded and properly stored, and the airline must be notified.
