It Happens to Men

It also happens to men, women do cheat on men and apparently, it is very common these days.

One of my male acquaintance read my stories on my website and felt that I was being bias against men. He felt that every advice were given to women to empower them and men was, his words,” the scum of the earth”. What about my story he asked? Don’t you think that people would like to hear it, in order to balance the scales a little.

So this is his story.

My girlfriend and I was together of 12 years, we have two beautiful children. During those twelve years we did everything together. I ensured that we share housework equally. I was at the hospital with her during the birth of both our children, never left her side. I felt every birth pain she was feeling (hard to believe), but it true. If she has a headache I would get one, you see I love her so much.

We planned family holidays every year and once per year my mother would keep the children so that we could go away on a romantic weekend. My life was perfect, not being a heavy drinker or smoker, or the clubbing type, when I returned home from work my time was spend with my family. I wanted to marry her but she would always put off getting married even though we had been engaged four years after we met, I put it down to wedding jitters, I have been told that some women experience this. I was happy even if she was only my girlfriend rather that my wife.

Then going into the 13 years of our relationship, I started to notice little changes she would come home from work and she would not give me my usual kiss, and she was spending more and more time alone, leaving me and the kids to fend for ourselves. Then she told me that she was going on a mini cruise with some of her work colleagues, naturally I agreed.

On her return from the three day mini cruise I notice she started taking telephone calls in private, something she never did. Then I came home one evening to find she had packed all her belongings, she was moving out, I could not believe what I was seeing, I felt as it I was in a dream. The she dropped the bomb on me, she told me that she had been having an eight months affair with a work colleague, in fact, it was he who she when on the mini cruise with, she loved him and could not continue with our relationship anymore. – Then she was gone.

It has been 18 months since this happen, the worse months of my life, but I have my kids to concentrate on, I have a very strong family unit, that has been my strength throughout this tough part of my life.

I just like to add that men does go through being cheated on and believe me it is just has devastating as when a man cheat on a woman, the scars are equally hard to bare and it does shatter your life – after all men are human being too.
