A 10-YEAR-old Brazilian boy shot his teacher in front of classmates then committed suicide by turning the gun on himself, Diario do Vale reported yesterday.
Using his policeman father’s gun, David Nogueira fired twice at Rosileide Queiros de Oliveira at a school in Sao Caetano do Sul, a suburb of Sao Paulo.
He fled the scene of Thursday afternoon’s attack before shooting himself in the head, the report said.
The 38-year-old teacher, who was shot in the abdomen, was airlifted to the Hospital das Clinicas in Sao Paulo where she was recovering Friday.
David was also taken to the hospital but suffered two heart attacks and died at 4:50pm Thursday.
According to teachers at Alcina Dantas Feijao, a leading state school, the boy did not have a history of violence and was a good student. The Civil Police are investigating whether the child was being bullied.
Captain Robinson Castropil, from the Military Police, told reporters the boy had asked for permission to go to the bathroom and when he came back he shot his teacher before running out of the room and shooting himself.
“He was quiet, kind and polite, I cannot believe it,” a neighbor of the child’s family told Terra.com.
