TLC member Chilli was shocked when she found out that Taylor Swift was a fan of the best-selling girl group of all time.

Chilli met Swift in October when TLC, Swift, Alicia Keys and others performed at the Justin Timberlake And Friends charity concert at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas to benefit the Shriners Hospitals For Children.

The moment is captured on Sunday’s episode of VH1’s What Chilli Wants dating show.

Swift told Chilli that TLC recorded one of her favorite songs. “I’m a huge fan,” Swift said during their backstage meeting. “I think I was 10 years old when I first saw the video for ‘Unpretty.’ That was my favorite record when I was growing up.”

Chilli described her encounter with Swift as “amazing.” “I was already loving this girl before I met her,” Chilli said about Swift. “But when she told me she was a TLC fan, and said her favorite song was ‘Unpretty,’ I almost passed out.”

Taylor Swift’s hit “You Belong With Me” and “Unpretty” share a similar theme, about measuring up to social standards and trying to fit in.

Once Swift revealed her admiration for the group, Chilli saw the connection. “I swear, I was like, ‘That makes sense for her to like that [song],'” she said. “It makes all the sense in the world.”

Chilli felt uplifted. “It was such an amazing moment because I’m always humbled,” she said. “It just really touched me in a way and made me feel good. Alls I ever wanted for us as far as TLC was concerned was to make music that would touch people in a positive way, and would encourage other people to really write and talk about good things.”

This week’s episode of What Chilli Wants also gets emotional when the family of late TLC member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes greets Chilli and T-Boz backstage. Sunday marks the 7th anniversary of Left Eye’s April 25, 2002 death in a car crash in Honduras.

“It made me feel good that they were proud of our performance, and how we always incorporate Lisa,” Chilli said of the support from Left Eye’s family. “I can not wait for everybody to see this Sunday night.”

Chilli, admits however, that it is still too difficult for her and T-Boz to watch Left Eye’s performance footage. “It’s funny because when we have the big screens on the side of the stage, and when Lisa’s parts come up, and we show her, we still, and I think it’s been 6 years, we still can not look at the screen.

“We can’t do it. We will break down. For me, personally, to look to my right and see T-Boz, then look to my left and there’s no one there, Lisa’s not there-she’s not in the middle. It’s just the two of us. It makes me work harder to let people see that we can still do this. But she could never be replaced.”
