Serial rapist remanded

A serial rapist who was taken into custody for sexually assaulting several women in the parishes of St Ann, St James, Trelawny, St Mary and Hanover, was remanded in custody when appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court this week.

Vivian Brady, 23, was collared at a guest house in the second city after an artists’ impression released by detectives in St Ann was carried by sections of the media. Brady posed as a route taxi operator and then robbed and or sexually assaulted his victims. At least 30 women who have been robbed and or raped at knife and gun point have submitted statements.

He is to face the St Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on Monday, April 19, the Port Maria Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, April 20 and the Gun Court on May 6.

Police say they are now consulting with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to get all the charges laid against him tried in one court.
