MOTHER’S Day turned tragic for two teens families yesterday after they were brutally killed at a one-year-olds birthday celebration when an uninvited guest suddenly opened fire in the hallway of a New York apartment building.
The victims – 15-year-old Marvin Wiggins and 16-year-old Quanisha Wright – were not the intended targets of the gunman, distraught witnesses told the New York Post.
Marvin was shot while coming to the aid of a partygoer’s mother at the Bronx event.
A group of older men, who appeared to be drunk, entered the party and behaved inappropriately in front of some of the female guests. The shooter was accused of touching a young girl and was beaten up, a witness told the New York Daily News.
The group returned 30 minutes later and opened fire.
“How does a party for a one-year-old turn into a shootout?” said Gladys Wright, Quanisha’s grandmother, who was raising the teen.
A third partygoer was shot in the arm. She remained in stable condition.
Quanisha had just turned 16 on Friday.
