Merseyside boy stabbed near polling station

A teenager is critically ill after being stabbed in a gang fight close to a Merseyside polling station.

Police said the boy was stabbed in his chest during an attack on playing fields behind Netherton Arts Centre, on Glover’s Lane, at 1600 BST.

The boy, aged between 16 and 17, was taken to hospital and is said to be in a critical condition.

A man has been arrested in connection with the attack and is being held in custody for questioning, police said.
