Man killed after allegedly engaging cops in gunfight

A man who allegedly opened fire at a police party was killed by the cops in Braziletto Town, Clarendon this morning.

Dead is a 44-year-old watchman Horace Campbell of Braziletto Town.

Reports from the Lionel Town Police are that about 5:15 am, police were carrying out an operation in the Salt River area when they went to Campbell’s house. On their approach, the police said Campbell was seen walking towards the front door with a gun in his hand and he immediately opened fire at the lawmen.

They fired back, killing Campbell.

A Pietro Beretta 9mm pistol with serial number 37560ZY and five rounds of ammunition was taken from him.

The firearms of the police officers involved in the shooting have been seized by investigators and taken to the Government Forensic Laboratory for ballistic testing. Their hands were also swabbed.

The Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) has commenced a probe.
