Lohan flees rehab for caffeine run

TROUBLED actress Lindsay Lohan escaped her California rehab centre to buy a soft drink but was caught red-handed with the caffeine contraband as she tried to sneak back in.

Soft drinks are not for sale at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage where Lohan is a patient. Caffeine, television and phone calls are all strictly prohibited, RadarOnline reported today.

Lohan and an unnamed patient at the facility were nabbed when the Mean Girls star’s co-conspirator got her jumper caught on a fence as they were sneaking back into the rehab centre after buying a soft drink from a vending machine at the Eisenhower Medical Center, which is nearby.

“Lindsay and her co-conspirator were forced to give it up and flag down a volunteer, who was crossing the centre’s grounds on a golf cart,” a source told the Hollywood gossip website.

Lohan spent 14 days in jail in July for violating the terms of her 2007 DUI probation, and was then made to undergo more than three weeks of intense, court-ordered drug rehab and months of regular random drug and alcohol tests.

The 24-year-old actress tested positive for cocaine in a court-ordered drug test in September, which led to an arrest warrant for the actress. She was briefly jailed before posting $US300,000 bail on September 25 and voluntarily entering treatment at Betty Ford.

Lohan checked herself into the live-in rehab centre near Palm Springs on September 28 and will reportedly stay at the facility at least until her next court hearing for violating her probation, set for October 22.

An assessment of Lohan after she entered treatment determined that her primary problem is cocaine addiction, Radar reported, citing a source close to the situation.
