John Travolta to jet to Perth for Telethon

HOLLYWOOD superstar John Travolta is flying his Boeing 707 to Perth for Telethon.

Travolta has agreed to help raise funds for the charity event while in the country to celebrate the 90th birthday of Qantas, of which he is an ambassador.

Qantas regional general manager (WA) Ian Gay was understandably delighted at the news.

“It is a happy coincidence that John Travolta will be in Australia to celebrate the airline’s milestone and that he can be involved,” Mr Gay said.

Travolta joins a long list of some of the world’s biggest stars who have attended Telethon including Sammy Davis Jnr, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.

Travolta holds 10 jet licenses and is the Qantas Airways Global Goodwill “Ambassador-at-Large”.

He piloted the original Qantas 707 during the “Spirit of Friendship” global tour in July/August 2002.
