Israeli gunfire kills Gaza teen, medics say

ISRAELI troops shot dead a Palestinian teenager overnight in the Gaza Strip as he approached the border fence with Israel, Palestinian medics said.

The 17-year-old boy’s body was found near the El Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, they said.

An Israeli Army spokesman said earlier that soldiers opened fire and hit a suspect near the border.

On Friday, two young Gazans were wounded as Israeli troops opened fire at a protest near the border fence.

In the West Bank, meanwhile, masked gunmen shot dead a Palestinian suspected of “collaborating” with Israel, according to Palestinian security sources and residents of the Beit Dajan village, near Nablus. The man was recently released from a West Bank jail after serving time on a charge of having provided Israel with information.

The Israeli Army and the Shin Bet internal security services often rely on Palestinian informants to obtain information about wanted militants.
