I was blindsided by Tiger Woods’s affairs: Elin Nordegren breaks her silence

ELIN Nordegren has broken her nine-month silence over the breakdown of her marriage to Tiger Woods in a magazine interview – just two days after her divorce from the golfer was finalised.

“I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children,” she told People.

“I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself.”

Ms Nordegren told the magazine she had no idea about Woods’s multiple affairs and said she felt “blindsided” and “embarrassed” when she found out.

“I never suspected, not a one. For the last three-and-a-half years, when all this was going on, I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the children and my school.”

Both Ms Nordegren, 30, and Woods, 34, were present at Bay County Circuit Court in Florida on Monday as their lawyers filed the paperwork dissolving their six-year marriage. Terms of the divorce were not disclosed.

The couple, who have two children – a daughter, Sam, who is three, and a one-year-old son, Charlie – released a statement wishing each other the best and terming the divorce “amicable”.

“My immediate plan is for the kids and me to continue to adjust to our new situation … My main focus is to try to give myself time to heal,” Ms Nordegren said.

It was her first interview since Woods crashed his SUV outside the family home following an apparent dispute with his wife in November last year.

The accident was followed by disclosures from more than a dozen women – from cocktail waitresses to porn stars – who claimed affairs with the golf pro.

Ms Nordegren said her interview with the magazine would be her last as she wanted to remain a private person.
