A 53-year-old man and his son died, as well as a 12-year-old girl, in a head-on car crash in Leicester.
Two other people were seriously hurt in the accident at Lubbesthorpe Way, Braunstone, at 2020 BST on Saturday.
Police said a silver Toyota Celica going towards the A47 collided with a green Chrysler Voyager and a white Vauxhall Corsa going the other way.
The man and his son, who was in his 20s, were in the Celica. The girl was a passenger in the Chrysler.
All of the victims were from Leicester.
‘Terrible tragedy’
The girl’s 35-year-old mother, who was the driver, and her 15-year-old sister were taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary. The 40-year-old driver of the Corsa and his 12-year-old daughter were not hurt.
Police said the Celica had crossed the carriageway.
Sgt Ivan Stafford, from Leicestershire Police, said: “This is a terrible tragedy that has left three people dead including a young girl.
“We have spoken to a number of people who witnessed the incident to try and piece together exactly what happened. However, I would ask that anyone who saw the Celica in the area just prior to the incident or who witnessed the collision to come forward.”
