Chinese medicine practitioner charged with rape
A CHINESE medicine practitioner has been charged with raping and sexually assaulting several female patients over the past two decades.
The 55-year-old man was arrested about 11.15am (AEST) today at his workplace in Sydney’s CBD, police said.
He was charged with four counts of sexual assault and four counts of sexual intercourse without consent.
It’s alleged the man, a Chinese medicine herbalist and acupuncturist, carried out the attacks against five women who attended his medical rooms between 1992 and 2009.
The women, aged between 29 and 49, allege they were assaulted while undergoing massage, acupuncture and chiropractic treatment.
One of the women, an international student, also alleges she obtained a fake medical certificate for $50.
The man was refused bail and will appear before Central Local Court tomorrow.
Police are appealing for anyone with further information to come forward.
