SIMON Monjack, the husband of late actress Brittany Murphy, had a son and a daughter whom he kept secret until his sudden death last month.
TMZ said the British-born screenwriter’s surprise family was revealed after his mom, brother and therapist went through his laptop computer last week.
They reportedly found emails from two women demanding child support from 39-year-old Monjack.
According to those who reviewed the messages, Monjack was father to a boy by one of the unidentified mothers and a girl by the other.
His computer records were also said to show wire transfers of large amounts of money – including $US48,000 ($56,515) in one instance – to his lawyers.
Monjack was found dead at his Hollywood home on May 23, just five months after his wife, 8 Mile star Murphy, collapsed there after suffering from pneumonia and a drug overdose of prescription painkiller Vicodin.
Initial reports suggested he died from a heart attack, which police said appeared to be due to “natural causes”.
He and Murphy married in May 2007.
