Come on Mr Hayward, do you really believe that no one would notice that whilst there is oil spilling into the gulf, that you were attending a yacht race.
This must be the biggest gaffe of all time. For crying out loud, we do understand that you are a mere human and sometimes we do silly things. However, a person of your stature must have known that with the catastrophe that you are currently having with BP, and as Chief, you are really expected to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner and I am afraid that this time you have not done so.
I can imagine that you regret the accident that cause oil to be spilling in the Gulf, and I am sure that you would have much rather that it did not happen, but it did, and you should be very busy, after the roasting that you got from the US, doing everything that you can to remedy the situation and I am afraid taking time off to watch your yacht complete in a race, I do believe that is a tad insensitive and you ought to be ashamed of yourself.
Of course, you are entitled to recreation and no one would even bother about what and where you decide to undertake your recreational activities, however, with the catastrophe that you have on your hand recreation activities would be the last thing on your mind, I am afraid you have anger a great deal of individuals. This was a negative thing to do, even though I doubt that it was undertaken in a ‘I do not care attitude’, come on, don’t you see how totally insensitive going to a boat race is.
