Abortion- Whose right it is?

By Sandrea: MY GRIPE

There has been a report featured in the ‘Australian’ newspaper which states that the Protestant church in Britain will be joining forces with an advertising campaign to show a scan of baby Jesus in the Virgin Mary’s womb, complete with halo.

According to the advert, this is meant to draw attention to the number of abortion that takes place in the UK every year. Further more John Smeaton, the director of the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child, said: “This advertisement sends a powerful message to everyone in Britain where 570 babies are killed every day in the womb, 365 days a year, under the Abortion Act. Whenever we kill an unborn child in an abortion, we are killing Jesus.

The question that I would like to ask Mr Smeaton, is when and where he has that conversation with Jesus, in order that he can make such a statement.

Abortion, should and always remain the rights of an individual.  If we are to believe the ‘Bible’ then Jesus died in order that we are set free from bondage, in order for us to make our own decision that govern our lives, and the most important aspects of is teaching is that ‘we should leave all vengeance to him’.

Therefore if, abortion is wrong in the eyes of Jesus then he and he alone should have the ability to judge us and people like Mr Smeaton should get off their high horses and stop acting as if God gave him some kind a special powers to tell people who want or need to have an abortion, not to do so.

The amount of children that their parents carry full term, go through the trauma of birth only to then, kick, beat, punch, and do unspeakable damage to end those children lives should be what they focus on.  I would much rather someone who is not ready for children, have an abortion, than have the child and abuse it.

I cannot abide people who believe that they have a God-given right to interfere in our lives, and the ‘holy than thou‘ brigade makes me even more angry.

Why don’t people like them look at the world and see the number of starving children that are around the globe and use their efforts to try and do something about that issue and leave people who want to have abortion alone.

The Government, already playing big brother has legislate the number of weeks that an abortion cannot take place, and although many people may disagree with that, I however, at the least can understand where they are coming from.  In order to prevent, women from having back-door abortion that could be detrimental to their lives, at least if they know that there is a period in which they can have their abortion legally and safe then I can agree with that.

I am really sick and tired of individual and the church telling us how to live our supposedly christian lives, when they themselves are no shining example to the rest of us.  If the ways of the bible means so much to them and they are following the teaching of God, then churches that ordain, gay and lesbian cleric, should be ashamed of themselves, they should not be allowed to pick and choose what they can or cannot do, and that is what they are trying to accomplish.

It is time that individual, leave the subject of abortion alone, it has been legislated, the rights of a woman to chose to have a child, is no body’s business, but her own and if she is going against the teaching of Jesus, then it is up to her to face her judgement from Jesus, not mere mortal men.
