Woman’s body inside suitcase in SF Bay identified

SAN FRANCISCO—Authorities have released the name of a woman whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase floating in San Francisco Bay.

Police say 52-year-old Pearla Ann Louis of San Francisco was discovered Tuesday morning inside the suitcase found near the Embarcadero and Folsom Street.

Lt. Lyn Tomioka says police have determined Louis was a victim of a homicide. Investigators have determined the cause of death, but have not disclosed it. Louis was reported missing Monday afternoon

Police say Louis’ body was discovered after a young child saw the floating suitcase and told a relative, who alerted firefighters nearby.
