Toddler found wandering along busy Sydney road

A TODDLER found wandering alone beside a western Sydney road has not been claimed by his parents or carers, five hours after he was discovered.

The boy, aged about three, was noticed by two off-duty paramedics as he walked along Mamre Road at St Marys near the Great Western Highway about 8.15am (AEST) this morning.  He is in good health and now in the care of police.

“All attempts by police to locate the boy’s parents have been unsuccessful and police are now appealing for the toddler’s parents to come forward,” police said.  The youngster is described as being of Indian or sub-continental appearance, with an olive complexion, about 80cm tall, thin, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

“The boy is able to speak but has a limited vocabulary,” police said.  He was wearing a brown jacket, a red jumper with a dinosaur motif, grey trackpants, grey socks and brown sandals.  Anyone who knows who the boy is or where his parents are should contact police by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
