A DRAMATIC new sighting of Madeleine McCann is being urgently followed up by private investigators.
A witness has come forward with new information as British police have unveiled a revamped nationwide child abduction alert system, The Sun reported today.
The Sun revealed that the new sighting of Maddie – on the day after she vanished – comes from a man who reported seeing a girl lying in the back of a van, wearing pyjama’s identical to those worn by the little girl when she disappeared.
New witness Carlos Moreira, 65, has told investigators the little girl he saw was with a man and woman who looked like gypsies.
When shown a previously unpublished identikit picture of a suspect, he identified it as being the van’s driver.
A source close to Maddie’s parents Kate and Gerry said today the sighting was “highly significant” and added: “It could be a key breakthrough.”
