March marijuana trial for Bounty

To face court on assault charges today

CONTROVERSIAL dancehall deejay Rodney ‘Bounty Killer’ Pryce had his trial on ganja-related charges postponed to March 7, 2011 when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The entertainer is maintaining his innocence on charges of possession of and smoking ganja. His bail was extended.

Allegations are that Pryce was seen smoking along Grenada Way in New Kingston last October. He was held and searched and a small quantity of the drug was reportedly found in his possession. The artiste was subsequently arrested and charged.

Pryce is also scheduled to appear before the court today on a charge of unlawfully wounding his 19-year-old girlfriend Racquel Smith.

The artiste was arrested and charged following an incident in September in which he allegedly used a hammer, a mosquito repellent, and a gold chain to beat the young woman.

However, Smith has since told the court that she would like to withdraw the charge as she plans to resume the relationship with the entertainer and wished for the matter to be sent to mediation.
