HALLE BERRY DONS FLOWERY BIKINI AND WETSUIT

preps to battle great white sharks for film role

During her film career, Halle Berry has taken on mutants, James Bond villains and psychiatric patients.

But now the 43-year-old actress is facing her greatest challenge to date – shooting with great white sharks for new movie Dark Tide.

Halle donned a flowered bikini and black wetsuit as she prepared to get into a shark cage in Seal Island, False Bay in South Africa, to film a scene for the upcoming thriller.

Looking relaxed about the impending encounter, Halle talked through the scene with the director before shooting began.

Halle stars as diving instructor Sara, who faces the difficult decision of getting back into the water following a nearfatal great white shark attack.

However, while locals in the area have been more than welcoming to Halle and co-star Olivier Martinez, shark experts have criticised the film for giving great whites a bad name.

Alison Kock, a Save Our Seas Foundation shark conservationist near Simon’s Town, where the scenes were shot, explained: ‘After reading the script we decided it was not something we would like to put our names to.

“Our mandate is to try to change people’s perceptions of sharks. The first script that we got sounded very much like it had a thriller aspect to it and a personal kind of aspect to it as well.

“But fighting off a shark, or surviving a shark attack – we couldn’t see the positive side of that, as much as we tried.”

However, while Halle has had a mixed reception after her arrival, she is determined to make things right as she will be shooting the film in South Africa for the next three months.
