Deportee tries to sneak into UK on forged passport

MONTEGO BAY, St James — A deportee who was trying to sneak back into the United Kingdom on a forged passport will know his fate when he is brought back to the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court next Tuesday.

Garfield Porter, a 45 year old Kingston man, admitted to trying to get back to England on a forged British passport when he faced Acting Senior Resident Magistrate Vivienne Harris yesterday.

Porter was trying to leave the island from the Sangster International Airport on October 14 when it was discovered that the passport in the name Herman Anthony Dunkley with his photo that he presented had been tampered with.

The police was called and checks showed that the passport had been reported stolen in England.

In court, Porter’s pleas for “another chance” fell on deaf ears as Harris ordered him remanded until Monday when he will be sentenced.
