2 in custody after west-end shooting

Police cordoned off Boon Ave. after a man was shot on May 27, 2010.

Two suspects are in custody and police are looking for a third following a shooting in the city’s west end this morning.

Tactical officers surrounded a home on Boon Ave., near Morrison Ave., just after 9 a.m. after a man in his 50s was shot in the shoulder, said Const. Tony Vella.

The victim did not appear to have life threatening injuries, and was in the street when police arrived.

Before being taken to Sunnybrook hospital, the victim indicated there was an armed person in one of the homes in the area, prompting police to call in the emergency task force and surround a home.

Shortly before noon, police announced that two people had been arrested.

Several police vehicles are still on the scene and Boone Ave. remains closed to both pedestrians and traffic.
