17-y-o among four killed on the weekend

A 17-year-old woman was among four people shot and killed in two separate incidents yesterday, as gunmen continued their reign of terror in several communities across the island.

Police said in one incident, Shelice “Shana-Kay” Haughton, 17, and her mother-in-law Corene Davis, 40, otherwise called Maureen, were shot dead at Delamere Avenue, Kingston 13. A man, 20, known only as LA and who is believed to be Davis’ son, was seriously injured in the attack.

“At about 4:45 am, a group of gunmen forced open a door to the house occupied by the three and enquired after another man. When their efforts to find him proved futile, the men opened fire, hitting the three,” the Constabulary Communication Network reported yesterday.

The police were called and the trio taken to hospital where the two women died and the man was admitted in serious condition. The St Andrew South homicide unit is investigating.

Meanwhile, detectives from the Bog Walk Criminal Investigation Branch in St Catherine were called in to probe the shooting deaths of Sean Hamilton, 28, and Nickita Douglas, 22, at their home at Princess Field District in Linstead.

Cops said Hamilton and Douglas were at home in the wee hours of the morning when an armed assailant(s) entered and opened fire on them. The men died on the spot. Investigators who responded processed the crime scene and the bodies were removed to the morgue.
