Teen charged in shooting death of 17-year-old

A Toronto teen has been charged in connection with the death of a 17-year-old boy gunned down earlier this month.

Mitchell Leton Celise died in hospital May 3 after he was found in the Winona Dr. and Hursting Ave. area, just south of Vaughan Rd., with two gunshot wounds.

It was the city’s 14th homicide of the year.  On Wednesday, police charged 18-year-old Lavare Williams with first-degree murder in connection with the Celise’s death.  Homicide detectives still have a nation-wide warrant out on a second suspect believed to be connected with the crime, 19-year-old Chael Mills, or “Ginga”, of Toronto.

Mills is described as light black, six feet tall, around 180 pounds, with brown eyes and a tattoo of “BTTW” on the right side of his neck.  Police have been searching since May 8 for the 19-year-old, who they say was known to the victim.  Earlier this month, Det. Mary Vruna told the Star that investigators had “determined that the victim was specifically targeted” by Mills.

Investigators believe Mills and Celise may have had an argument before the shooting, Vruna added. Police say Mills is to be considered armed and dangerous and caution the public not to approach him if he’s seen.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call homicide detectives at 416-808-7400.
