Scottish bride-to-be has throat cut after calling off wedding

A BRIDE-to-be was fighting for her life in Scotland overnight after having her throat cut hours after reportedly calling off her marriage.

Local reports say the woman was due to be married on Friday in Falkirk, central Scotland, but called off the ceremony just hours before it was due to start.

She was subsequently attacked at her home in the nearby village of Slamannan. The woman, 32, who reportedly has two young children, has not been identified.

Police launched a search for a suspect and a man was later arrested in Newcastle, northeastern England.

The woman was flown by air ambulance to Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital where she was reported in serious condition.

The arrested man, who is 37, was expected to appear in court on Monday, police said.
