‘Most wanted’ killed 218 detained in St Catherine

THE St Catherine North Police detained 218 men and killed one on their most wanted list after the imposition of a curfew in the parish this morning.

Of the 218 persons taken into custody, 60 have been processed, interviewed and released, while two were arrested as they had warrants out.

One man, Aaron Dre Dixon, otherwise called ‘War Chief’, was killed by members of the St Catherine North Police team after allegedly engaging the police in a gunfight.

Dixon, 23, was featured on the division’s most wanted list for a number of crimes in Gordon Pen and was said to be a major player in conflicts which have plagued Gordon Pen and surrounding areas over the last two years, the police said

A Glock 17 pistol and seven rounds of ammunition were recovered. The Bureau of Special Investigations is probing the circumstances of the fatal shooting.

Meanwhile, two men were also arrested after they were found with large sums of money. The men, who are believed to be extortionists, could not explain how they came to be in possession of the money.
