Parents charged in 15-year-old Brampton girl’s murder

The father and stepmother of a 15-year-old girl found dead in her Brampton home on Saturday have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Tiffany Gayle’s lifeless body was found on Saturday in her home on Savita Rd. after paramedics were called there around 9 a.m.

“Anytime a healthy 15-year-old is found deceased concerns are heightened and this case is no exception,” Peel Acting Superintendent Norm English said. “While I cannot discuss specifics and the obstacles we encountered, over the weekend, as our officers probed into this investigation, some very disturbing information was slowly being uncovered.”

English said Monday’s post mortem revealed the young girl died from blunt force injuries.

“I can only describe them as alarming and excessive,” English said.

Fedrick Gayle, 42, and Elizabeth Gayle, 43, are to be formally charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday in a Brampton courtroom.

“Physical abuse of a child doesn’t start with a homicide; there is usually a pattern and while not always reported to authorities the victim will commonly reveal certain aspects to others,” English said.

Police are still seeking information about the case.

Students at Fletcher Meadow Secondary School in Brampton, Ont., held a memorial for the Grade 10 student earlier on Tuesday.
