JACKSON, Tenn. — A white supremacist convicted of plotting to kill then-presidential candidate Barack Obama — and slaughter dozens of African Americans in the process — has been given a 10-year prison sentence.

Authorities have described 19-year-old Paul Schlesselman and an accomplice as white supremacist skinheads who hatched a plan to go on a cross-country robbery and killing spree that would end with an attack on Obama in 2008.

Their plan was to kill 88 African-Americans and behead 14 others before trying to take out Obama. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist movement.

U.S. District Judge J. Daniel Breen sentenced the 19-year-old, from Helena-West Helena, Ark., on Thursday. He had pleaded guilty in January.

Twenty-one-year-old co-defendant, Daniel Cowart of Bells, Tenn., also pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

  1. This is the kind of story that get my blood boiling. Where do these people get off wanting to kill someone because of the colour of their skin. I do not care if a person is black, white, blue or pink. What I am interested in is that person character and their sense of decency.
