Canadian Parents Kill J’Can Girl?

The father and stepmother of a 15-year-old Jamaican girl who recently migrated to Canada have been charged in connection with the child’s murder.

According to reports, on Saturday the body of Tiffany Gayle was found at her home in Brampton, Ontario.

When THE STAR contacted the Peel Police in Ontario, an officer who answered the call, after much deliberation, eventually said the child’s body was found around 9 a.m. in her home on Savita Road after paramedics were called there.

A subsequent three-day investigation and an autopsy on her body led to the arrest and charge of her father Fredrick Gayle, 42, and his wife Elizabeth, 43. They were charged with second degree murder on Tuesday.

“I can’t give out too much information over the telephone but investigations revealed that the girl died from a blunt force trauma, meaning she was beaten to death,” the officer said, adding that the two suspects were scheduled to appear in court yesterday.

He could not say where in Jamaica the child originated and refused to give out any more information.

In an article posted on Canada’s thestar.com, Acting Superintendent Norm English was quoted as saying, “Anytime a healthy 15-year-old is found deceased concerns are heightened and this case is no exception … While I cannot discuss specifics and the obstacles we encountered, over the weekend, as our officers probed into this investigation, some very disturbing information was slowly being uncovered.”

Efforts to get a further comment from the senior policeman were unsuccessful as he was said to be out of office for the day.

Meanwhile, other online reports said the students at Fletcher Meadow Secondary School in Brampton, where Tiffany was enrolled in grade 10, held a memorial for her on Tuesday. Councillors were brought in to help those in need.
