A THREE-year-old girl was being hunted by British police today after the child stole money from a senior citizens purse while her adult accomplice distracted the 69-year-old woman.
The burglary took place at the elderly victim’s home in Northamptonshire, central England, between 3:40pm and 5:25pm Monday .
The man knocked on the victim’s door and asked if she wanted to buy tobacco. He then asked to use the bathroom and chatted to the elderly woman while the little girl searched the property , stealing a small amount of cash from the woman’s purse.
Inspector Nick Lyall, sector commander at Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, said, “This is the first time I’ve heard of such a young child being used in a crime like this.
“It is extremely unusual and extremely rare and not the kind of crime that we would tolerate at all.
“We will be working hard to apprehend this offender and we will work with our partner agencies to make sure this girl receives the proper guidance.”
The man is described as white, aged between 25 and 30 years, approx 6ft 4in (1.93m) tall and of slim build. He had short dark brown hair and wore a gray top with white lettering across the front.
The young girl is described as white, aged between three to five years of age with a slim build. She had dark brown that was tied up in a ponytail and wore a pink top.
