Authorities say five people were killed in an explosion during an experiment at a chemical company in southeastern South Korea.
An official at Gyeongbuk provincial fire service headquarters said Saturday the explosion took place at TK Chemical company in the city of Gumi. He declined to be named because investigators were still trying to determine details of the blast.
Hospital and company officials confirmed that five people were killed while two others were being treated for serious burns.
