Two weeks ago my 18 months old granddaughter had ‘open heart surgery’, she was born with partial VSD, this meant she had a hole in her heart and one of the heart chamber was not functioning the way it should. After her operation and I when to see her in intensive care, one of the surgeon commented that he could not understand why these children were born that way, and I told him that God has put him on earth to repair any damages to a human being that he God see fit not to do.
This was not a punishment for him as a surgeon, but a testament that God knew exactly what he was doing when he created the surgeon.
My grand-daughter walk out of the hospital 8 days after open heart surgery and that was a miracle in itself.
I cannot understand why people who proclaim themselves as Christians have a problem when women who cannot have children, opt for IVF, or when a woman who became pregnant choose to have an abortion.
Human beings have a propensity to judge others and according to the ‘bible’ we are suppose to leave all vengeance and judging to God. The almighty would not have given mankind the knowledge of these things if he believe that they would not benefit our race, the abuse that we have chose to use, some of the knowledge and technology that have come our way, is our own making. The fact that we are given the choice to choose the manner in which we behave and treat others is a testament to God patience with us and one that we should not take lightly.
Today, we have a fantastic break-through in DNA and forensic science and this should alleviate or reduce the number of innocent people that are sent to prison and free those that are in prison for crimes they did not commit and this was only achieved by the discovery of DNA.
Every discovery in science and technology that has ever been made where originally done to enable the human race to progress, the fact that some of these inventions and scientific discovery are used by a minority to commit unspeakable crime against each other have more to do with human greed and the need for some to control others. We should not however, refrain from undertaking research, whether it is to cure Cancer, Aids, or any of the diseases that are plaguing our society, or to be able to use IVF, to give women the ability to have children. I say a resounding yes to the scientific world and grateful that they are taking the time to do something to help ease human suffering.
The benefit that we have gained over the years far surpass the skeptical views of a few ‘wannabe’ christian, who are telling us that we are flying in the face of God. If we are doing so then the Almighty face is big enough to tolerate it and if and when he believe we have gone too far he is quite capable of taking us down a peg or two.
