Vybz Kartel...still at large

MEMBERS of the media are now camped out at the Greater Portmore police station where popular dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel is expected to this morning turn himself over to police.

The controversial entertainer, who was yesterday named as a major person of interest by the St Catherine South Police, reported through media that he was to turn himself over to law men at 9:00 am but those promises have not materialised.

Lawyers representing the entertainer say they are still working out how their client will proceed.

Kartel, who is head of the Portmore Empire dancehall group has been named among several other persons of interests in the police division.

Since Monday police say they have detained 102 persons during  curfews imposed on Newlands and Naggo Head in Portmore, St Catherine. Cops said persons detained in curfews have been sent to the Mobile Reserve in Kingston for further questioning.

Another three were charged for various offences, including shooting and possession of marijuana.

The Portmore curfews are expected to be lifted today.
